Holding true to our organization’s philosophy the UIECU Community Involvement Committee is committed to “Serving Campus & Community by Being Involved,"  As a group we strive to bring involvement that creates lasting relationships and makes a difference in the lives of our members, our community, and each other.

How can we help your community?  We evaluate requests made on behalf of your organization. To be considered for a donation or volunteer services please complete our Contribution Request Form and submit to the Community Involvement Committee at cic@uiecu.org, or mail it back according to the instructions.

Champaign County Freedom Celebration
On July 4th, 16 employees and family members walked in the Champaign County Freedom Celebration parade. They helped collect funds for the 2014 Freedom Celebration parade and fireworks.

It’s All in the Jeans Day 2013

Employees made a donation and wore jeans to work for a day. 46 employees participated, donating $475. UIECU matched that donation for a total donation of $950.



Eastern Illinois Foodbank Food for Families Jeans Day

57 employees donated $460 to wear jeans to work for a day. Members donated $105.53, for a total donation of $565.53.

Crisis Nursery Holiday Shop

10 employees and family members helped children at the Holiday Shop choose gifts for their family members.

2013 Year-End Donation

Employees voted to donate $500 to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank as our annual donation this year.

Go Red for Women Jeans Day

47 employees donated $263.66 to wear jeans to work for a day.  The funds raised will go toward the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women fundraiser.

Past Activities & Involvement

Bowl for Kids’ Sake
In March, UIECU participated in the annual Big Brother Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake event. A total of twelve employees and family members volunteered to bowl at the event. UIECUs Community Involvement Committee donated $750.00 and the participants raised an additional $614.00. In total the donation given was $1,364.00.

Illini Veterans Memorial 5K
Six employees and family members participated in the Illini Veterans Memorial 5K to help raise funds for the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education.  UIECU donated $500.00 and participants raised $400.00, for a total donation of $900.00.

Bark for Life
In May, 22 UIECU employees, family members, and furry friends participated in the Champaign County Bark for Life event at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana. Bark for Life is an event for individuals and their pets to raise awareness of the animals who act as caregivers to those that struggle with cancer. UIECUs furry friends and their families had a great time and raised a total of $328.01.

UIECUs 4th Annual Food Drive

Employees participated in a food and monetary donation drive to benefit Eastern Illinois Foodbank.  In total, employees collected a total of $477.00 and 1454 pounds of food to donate to the Foodbank.

Relay for Life

Team “A Lending Hand” comprised of UIECU employees and their families raised money for this great cause and participated in the 12 hour relay. During the month of June UIECU raised over $4,000. Thank you to all of our members that made donations!

Freedom Celebration Parade 
Sixteen UIECU employees and family members volunteered their time again this year to help at the parade by walking the parade route with their water guns in hand and collection canisters helping keep the crowd cool from the high temps, while one UIECU employee showed off his hotrod while driving for Shriners.

All In The Jeans Day
On Oct 5th employees took part in the 8th annual “All in the Jeans Day”, sponsored by Provena Covenant Medical Center for supporting breast cancer. Staff donated $475, which UIECU matched for a total donation of $950 towards breast cancer programs.
